    Thirty hard corals of the species Plesiastrea versipora have been collected from Marmion Reef for sectioning and x-ray analysis to provide measurements of growth. These data will be combined with coral population structures collected in 2006-2007 invertebrate surveys, enabling us to independently validate models of patch dynamics (including patch longevity) using estimated coral ages.

  • This record describes the Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) data collected from the Marine National Facility RV Investigator voyage IN2014_E03. This is the first trial voyage for the RV Investigator departing Hobart on the 11th November and returning to Hobart on the 17th November 2014. CTD data is collected using a 12/24/36 bottle rosette which can include auxilliary instruments such as: ecotriplet, transmissometer and fluorometers (phytoplankton, oxygen flourescence and turbidity). CTD are sampled at specified stations (refer to map), the system can operate at a maximum depth of 6,000 metres. The 12 bottle carousel CTD is used for trace metal work. The CTD data for this voyage will not be processed. Processing may be arranged upon request.

CTD are sampled at specified stations (refer to map), the system can operate at a maximum depth of 6,000 metres. The 12 bottle carousel CTD is used for trace metal work. The collected data is subsequently processed and QC'd by the DAP group and archived within the CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere (O&A) in Hobart. Data starts from Apr. 1991, and is calculated using an objective analysis procedure written in IDL. The images cover the Australian continent and surrounding oceans. The data are contained on CDROMs in Hobart.

  • This dataset contains the Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) data collected on Southern Surveyor voyage SS2013_v01. The voyage took place from Brisbane to Brisbane along the continental slope off northern NSW and southern Queensland between the 18th of January to the 4th February, 2013. This dataset has been processed and archived within the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Data Centre in Hobart.   • This dataset contains the Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) data collected on Southern Surveyor voyage SS2013_v06. The voyage took place from Hobart to south-west of Tasmania 47 S and 140 E and return to Hobart to recover SOTS moorings between the 7th October and 17th October, 2013. This dataset has been processed and archived within the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Data Centre in Hobart.     CAT Scans (Computerized Axial Tomography) of Deep Sea Fish: - Orange Roughy - Icefish (Smoothed and sharp images) - Blue Grenadier - Oreo Dories (Spiky, Smooth and Warty) - Warehou. All images were recorded at the Royal Hobart Hospital between 2000 and 2007. The images are in black and white, with mm resolution, from which it is possible to extract density and size measurements. The images are stored in the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) format. Added 5th June 2014: zipped datasets (CT-Scan data files of Orange Roughy) have been made publicly available. To view the datasets, download and unzip the files, then copy all contents on a CD, to view the data, use the viewer application PCVCDVW.EXE from the CD in the subdirectory CDVIEWER. Note that the viewer application only runs from a CD.

    Composite sea surface temperature (SST) images derived from NOAA AVHRR satellite data received in Hobart, covering Tasmania and surrounding region, for comparison with, and extrapolation of, actual measurements recorded during four voyages of FRV "Southern Surveyor" over the period July 1991-April 1993 for the Tasmanian Slope Trophodynamics project. The SST images are averaged by month over a slightly longer period (January 1991-December 1993). There are also 4 higher resolution images corresponding to the times of the actual voyages, taken on 13 July 1991, 20-22 Feb 1992, 6-7 Nov 1992 and 20-26 Apr 1993. The images are composites from an original dataset of c3000 images over this period, held in the Remote Sensing Facility in Hobart.
